S O F I L U T S

Sofía Lourdes Sarmiento (Sofiluts) is a 21-year-old Argentine-American visual artist whose work includes oil, acrylic, pen, pencil, mixed media, and mural painting. Born in Buenos Aires, she has been creating art since childhood and developed a practice grounded in form, light and narrative. After years of traveling between Argentina and the United States, she established her base in California, where she continues to refine her contemporary figurative language.

Her work brings together cultural references and emotional influences shaped by her experiences across the Americas and Europe. Raised in a creative family of inventors, poets, designers and visual artists, she grew up surrounded by imagination and craft, which formed the foundation of her discipline and curiosity.

Mostly self-taught, she expanded her studies at the University of Buenos Aires and at the National Museum of Fine Arts of Argentina, and will begin Fine Arts studies at Santa Monica College in California.

Her paintings draw inspiration from Caravaggio’s chiaroscuro, David’s classical structure and the symbolic vocabulary of surrealism, blending these influences into a personal visual language characterized by precision and poetic resonance. Her recent work expands into sculpture, with pieces in plaster and porcelain.

Sofiluts also assisted in Micanopy’s First Public Mural in Florida, contributing to the creative process and early community stages of the project. Her work has been exhibited and collected in the United States and Argentina, reflecting a growing practice guided by experimentation, emotional depth and a strong sense of visual storytelling.
